{"id":462,"date":"2014-01-06T15:07:00","date_gmt":"2014-01-06T15:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.haloproject.org.uk\/blog\/?p=462"},"modified":"2021-12-01T14:28:42","modified_gmt":"2021-12-01T14:28:42","slug":"pupils-missing-after-school-holidays-shows-big-increase-in-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.haloproject.org.uk\/blog\/pupils-missing-after-school-holidays-shows-big-increase-in-district\/","title":{"rendered":"Pupils missing after school holidays shows big increase in district"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The number of children who go missing during school holidays is on the rise, the Telegraph &amp; Argus can reveal.<\/p>\n<p>New data shows 96 children failed to return to school as expected after the long summer break last year, the highest number in three years and a 55 per cent rise on the previous year\u2019s figure.<\/p>\n<p>More than half of the children \u2013 54 of them \u2013 were still unaccounted for a month later, despite the efforts of the local authority to trace them or their families. The Telegraph &amp; Argus requested Bradford\u2019s figures for the past three years under the Freedom of Information Act.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, many children reported missing from school rolls turn out to have moved to a different school but other children and their families are never traced. Campaigners fear some of them could have been taken overseas by their families to be forced into marriages.
